I've been selling real estate in Hamilton for about 24 years and I know Hamilton inside an out. If this career fails, I KNOW I would be an asset to a taxi company. I spend a lot of time out and about and one of my favorite spots to stop and chill for a minute or two is James Street North.
James Street was Hamilton's little Italy or Little Portugal and you can see influences everywhere, in the gardens of nearby homes, the fish shops and grocery stores to the restaurants.
I seldom miss the Art Crawl, held second Friday of the month.
The street closes down, galleries open their doors late into the night, the atmosphere is just so electric, it reminds me of New York's West Village.
I usually go to the Mulberry Street cafe for the best grilled cheese sandwich in Hamilton and a cappuccino, sit on the patio and regroup.
Acclamation has great lamb and the Wild Orchid has always been a special spot for my husband and me, we go there to plan, plot and patch up after disagreements.
Ventura's is for special occasions.
James Street North Real Estate
The area is quirky and artsy, influenced by the early immigrants from Europe, namely Portuguese, Italian and South Americans. Home prices range from 200k upward to 300K+.
It's now the hub of the art scene with galleries and boutiques, restaurants and cafes.
The area is home to many galleries and is an art lovers heaven. Stoll to galleries, to great restaurants, cafes and live a life just a little more relaxed.
Walk to the West Harbour, hike, bike, canoe and fish on the lake.
